The Pioneer Engineer Club thanks TLC to Earth for bringing this feature to our grounds.
In August of 2008, the Coon and Decker families
were enjoying quality time exploring the grounds at Caldwell Pioneer
Acres. During a hayride on an
antique wagon and a Rumely Oil Pull, tragedy struck when the Oil Pull was
climbing up an incline. Seconds into the climb the oil pull jumped out of gear
and rolled backwards. With no other choice, the family jumped off the wagon.
Baby Tobi was strapped on her grandma, and they both tumbled under the wagon and
engine. Tobi’s tiny body did not survive the accident, and their mother
suffered a head injury and was taken by Air E-Vac to Aaron and Kelly Jo and their friends and family turned this tragic accident into a positive cause for their community by forming a group called TLC to Earth. “As her parents, we have decided to keep her love alive
by helping make our world a better place to live,” the couple said. “The TLC
to Earth campaign encourages everyone to make a difference by thinking global
and starting local. Recycling is the easiest way to get started.” The main message of TLC to earth is to make the Earth a better
place for future children. “Tobi changed our lives and many others with all the
love she had to share. This playground will provide hours and hours of fun and
safe activities for lots of children now and in the future,” the couple said.
